The story kicks off when Christa, hoping to leave her past in the rearview mirror, joins a tour group with her fiancé bound for the Rocky Mountains. Little does she know, however, that's she's about to stumble into a nightmare colder than a Yeti's toenails.

What was meant to be a week of scenic vistas and warm fireplaces turns into a slasher flick when a brutal snowstorm forces the group to hunker down in an abandoned cabin. As the blizzard howls outside, tempers flare inside, creating an atmosphere tighter than a pair of skinny jeans after Thanksgiving dinner. From there, things go from bad to worse when their tour guide is found doing his best impression of a macabre lawn ornament—decapitated and displayed outside the cabin.

The book is perfect for thrill-seekers who enjoy a good slasher story with a dash of mystery. • Some may find the graphic violence a bit too intense. If you’re squeamish, you might want to stick to rom-coms or, you know, anything with puppies.
• The large cast of characters can be challenging to keep track of at times.
• If you're planning a winter getaway, this might make you reconsider. Nothing like a little psychological horror to ruin your cabin retreat plans.
