eBaseball PRO SPIRIT is not an MLB game. There is no Yankees, no Dodgers, no Red Sox. It is built on Nippon Professional Baseball, Japan's twelve team top flight, and if you did not grow up watching NPB, picking a team can feel like a coin flip.
So we ranked all twelve by roster strength and star power, to help you choose a real contender, or a proper underdog challenge. This reflects current NPB form heading into 2026, so it will shift as rosters change.
NPB splits into two leagues of six teams, the Central League and the Pacific League, and there is one rule difference that matters for how you play.
The Pacific League uses the designated hitter, while the Central League does not, which means with a Central League team your pitcher has to bat.
If you would rather not manage a weak hitting pitcher in your lineup, lean toward a Pacific League club.

| B | Yomiuri Giants (CL) | Japan's biggest, richest franchise. Always stocked with talent and never far from contention, even in a down year. |
| B | Orix Buffaloes (PL) | A recent dynasty that has cooled off after losing stars to MLB, but still has quality pieces and a winning core. |
| B | Chiba Lotte Marines (PL) | A solid, scrappy side rebuilding after sending ace Roki Sasaki to the majors. Middle of the pack, with upside. |
| C | Hiroshima Toyo Carp (CL) | A developmental club with heart and speed but limited star power. A fun grinder's team. |
| C | Saitama Seibu Lions (PL) | Strong tradition, but a thin recent offense makes this a tougher build. |
| C | Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles (PL) | Streaky and mid pack, with flashes but not much consistency lately. |
| C | Chunichi Dragons (CL) | Great pitching pedigree, but one of the quietest offenses in the league. A real challenge to score with. |
| C | Tokyo Yakult Swallows (CL) | Lost superstar slugger Munetaka Murakami to MLB, and the power drop shows. The ultimate rebuild if you want it hard. |
For most people, and especially newcomers, the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks are the answer.
They are the defending champions for a reason, deep and balanced enough that you can learn the game's batting and pitching systems without an underpowered roster fighting you. If you are more of a pitching and defense player who loves a 2 to 1 nail biter, the Hanshin Tigers are the pick, their arms are elite.
And if you want offense that bails you out, the DeNA BayStars will let you slug your way through a season.
Once you know the game, drop down to the C tier.
Taking a rebuilding club like the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, freshly stripped of their star power, or the light hitting Chunichi Dragons, and dragging them to a pennant is where eBaseball PRO SPIRIT gets genuinely satisfying.

Does eBaseball PRO SPIRIT have MLB teams?
No. It features the twelve Japanese NPB teams, plus national teams for the World Championship modes. There are no MLB clubs like the Yankees or Dodgers.
