I have been stuck between two baseball games for a while now.
On the PC side, I've been playing Super Mega Baseball, which is a good time but leans way too far into the over the top, cartoonish side of the sport for my taste.
On the PS5, I have MLB The Show, which is fantastic, but I genuinely dislike having to get up from my office desk and move to the living room every time I want to play it.
So when Konami quietly brought eBaseball PRO SPIRIT to PC, I was curious whether it could sit right in that middle spot.
A few games in, the answer is yes. This plays a real, satisfying game of baseball, and it does it on my PC.

Early score: 7.5 out of 10. A thumbs up with an asterisk. The core baseball is genuinely good, it just needs a coat of polish. I am glad I bought it.
This is Konami taking its long running Japanese baseball series global for the first time.
It launched in July 2026 on PS5 and PC through Steam for about sixty dollars, and it is built on Unreal Engine 5.
The headline is that it features real Nippon Professional Baseball, all twelve Japanese pro teams and their players, and for the first time in the series history it ships with English commentary.
If your only reference point for Konami baseball is the cartoon styled Pawapuro games, forget that. This is the realistic, simulation side of the house.
This is where the game won me over. It feels like baseball. It plays like baseball. Period.
The animations are great and there is real weight to everything. When you square up a pitch and connect, the ball comes off the bat with a physics driven heft that a lot of baseball games never quite nail.
Catching and throwing feel realistic too, not floaty.
The swing is sensitive, maybe a little too sensitive out of the box, so I would steer most players toward using the zone batting interface rather than swinging on timing alone.
Once you settle into that, at bats feel great. This is a game that respects the sport, and if you love baseball, that comes through in the first few innings.
Overall, the presentation is excellent, which honestly is not a surprise.
Konami is a lot like EA in this respect, they know how to make a sports game look and sound premium, and for sixty dollars it feels the part. Menus, stadiums, crowd atmosphere, it all lands.
One genuinely cool touch is that you can mix your languages. I run the menus in English but keep the commentary in Japanese, which gives it an authentic broadcast feel while still letting me navigate everything.
If you want the full English experience, the new English commentary is there too. Little options like that go a long way.
Here is my honest hang-up, and it may or may not be yours, so tread lightly on this part as it may not be an issue with you.
The game only has Japanese NPB teams, and I do not follow the NPB, so I do not know the teams or the players.
That leaves me in a truly strange spot. I love how it plays, but I am not emotionally invested in who I am playing as or against.
It feels a bit like a great game of college baseball, the action is excellent, but I have no attachment to the names on the jerseys.
If you follow Japanese baseball, this is a dream and you can ignore this whole section.
If you are a MLB fan hoping for the Yankees and Dodgers, know going in that this is a different league.
Personally I would love an MLB version, and Konami does have a separate MLB branded Pro Spirit product on mobile, but this PC release is pure NPB.
Yes, there's an option for WBC teams, but as of writing this, that version is only available to the Asian market.
There is more here than a quick exhibition game, even if the teams are unfamiliar.
You get a season and manager mode with an active draft to build a dynasty, a Star Player mode where you create a player and take a career up to thirty years, and a high school mode chasing the Koshien tournament.
On top of that there is a build your own roster competitive mode and full online play feature against people around the world.
For all the good, this is clearly a fresh port and it shows.
The interface is over designed, there are too many clicks, too many confirmations, and an annoying habit of making you back out to the home screen to lock in changes.
Fielding has a quirk too: there is a slight delay when control passes to the fielder nearest the ball, because the game has to work out who is closest before it hands you the reins, and in a fast sport that half second matters.
My biggest gameplay note is difficulty. Hitting is a little too easy, and it does not ramp up the way I expect.
In MLB The Show, moving from Pro to Veteran is a real step up in challenge.
Here that jump barely registers, and I found myself mashing hits on higher settings.
I am not sure if Konami tuned it this way to be more welcoming to its core audience, but sim fans chasing a challenge may find it soft for now.
And then there is the launch itself.
Like a lot of Unreal Engine 5 games with Denuvo, it has shipped with crashes and stutter for some players.

If you want a realistic game of baseball you can actually play on PC, without the arcade goofiness of Super Mega Baseball or the couch lock in of MLB The Show, eBaseball PRO SPIRIT slots perfectly into that gap.
Baseball purists will appreciate how it plays. People who need familiar MLB teams to stay invested, or who want a stiff difficulty curve on day one, might want to wait for patches.
For me, even with the rough edges, the core is good enough that I am glad I bought it, and I will keep playing.
Is eBaseball PRO SPIRIT worth it?
If you want realistic baseball on PC and are open to Japanese teams, yes.
The core gameplay is genuinely good and it fills a real gap between arcade baseball and MLB The Show. Just go in knowing the interface is fussy and it needs more polish.
Does eBaseball PRO SPIRIT have MLB teams?
No. This PC release features the twelve Nippon Professional Baseball teams, not MLB. Konami has a separate MLB branded Pro Spirit game on mobile, but this is a pure NPB title.
