Best NASCAR 26 Wheel Settings for Direct Drive Wheels (Moza, Fanatec, Simagic)

Direct drive racing wheel set up for NASCAR 26 with a stock car on screen

iRacing's NASCAR 26 asks you to choose a force feedback preset based on your base's output. High Torque is the one you want if your wheel produces more than 10 Nm, per the NASCAR 26 wheel settings walkthrough.

Leaving a direct drive base on the low preset wastes most of what you paid for. Force feedback is the genuine step forward in this game over NASCAR 25, and direct drive owners get the most out of it, because the surface detail is where the driving model actually lives.

A Working Direct Drive Baseline

These are the in game values from a Moza R12 FSR setup, with base strength at 80 percent in Moza Pit House, per the NASCAR 26 wheel settings walkthrough.

Note Balance at 0, the opposite of the Logitech recommendation. Balance exists to lift weak forces so gear driven wheels can transmit them. A direct drive base does not need the help, and adding it just compresses the dynamic range you bought the wheel for.

The 270 Versus 900 Argument

Here is the part nobody explains clearly, and it is worth understanding before you copy anyone's numbers. One camp sets rotation to 270 degrees with Steering Range at 100, on the grounds that NASCAR 26 is designed around a 270 degree steering angle and going higher means the game stops registering input past that point while force feedback continues, per Brian Koponen.

The other camp runs 900 degrees with Steering Range at 30, which compresses a lot of physical rotation into a small amount of steering at the tires.

Both work, and they solve different problems. The 270 and 100 approach gives you a one to one match between your hands and the car, cleaner and easier to learn.

The 900 and 30 approach gives you finer resolution per degree of hand movement, useful for the tiny corrections that keep a loose car off the wall at Talladega, at the cost of a wheel that does not visually match the in car animation. If you are new to the game, start at 270 and Steering Range 100. It is the setup the game was built for and it removes a whole category of confusion. Try the high rotation approach once you have a baseline lap time to compare against.

Fanatec Owners

There is no consensus baseline circulating for Fanatec bases in NASCAR 26 yet. Owners are actively asking for one and mostly getting complaints about the force feedback in reply. Start from the Moza baseline above, since the in game values are base agnostic, and set your Fanatec driver strength to roughly the same percentage. Then adjust one thing at a time.

The Honest Caveat

Direct drive owners are also the loudest critics here. The wheel is the harshest and most consistent complaint in NASCAR 26's user reviews, even in an overall positive picture. Good settings improve this game a lot. They do not turn it into iRacing.

Patch Note Worth Knowing

If your wheel was shuddering or vibrating roughly at launch, that was a bug and it was fixed in the September 16 patch on all three platforms, per the NASCAR 26 release notes.

FAQ

What preset should a direct drive wheel use in NASCAR 26?

High Torque, if your base makes more than 10 Nm. The low preset wastes most of a direct drive wheel's output.

Should I run 270 or 900 degrees on a direct drive wheel?

Both work. 270 with Steering Range 100 is a one to one match and easier to learn. 900 with Steering Range 30 gives finer resolution for tiny corrections. Start at 270 if you are new.

What are good Moza settings for NASCAR 26?

Base strength around 80 percent in Pit House, then in game Steering Range 30, Wheel Max Rotation 900, High Torque preset, Balance 0, Collision 70, Friction 80, Overdrive 2, Vibration 100. Or run 270 and Steering Range 100 for a one to one feel.

Is there a Fanatec baseline for NASCAR 26?

Not a settled one yet. Start from the Moza in game values, which are base agnostic, and match your Fanatec driver strength percentage.
