The core mechanic of the game is simple but clever: arrange and rotate everyday objects until their shadows form a specific silhouette on the wall. It’s the kind of puzzle that feels satisfying when the solution clicks, and it encourages thinking outside the box, sometimes literally.

Trial, Error, and Happy Endings

A big draw here is the freedom in the solving puzzles. Most challenges have several possible solutions, so experimenting with different object combinations is actually rewarded. It’s not a one-size-fits-all experience however, as every player might find their own way to complete each silhouette, which adds a unique touch.

The physics engine, though, has its moments of brilliance and frustrations. In particular, objects can bounce or tip over at the worst possible times, adding a bit of unpredictability to the mix. But those little mishaps also make every victory a bit sweeter.

Some puzzles can be genuinely head-scratching until the game’s logic reveals itself. Thankfully, there is a generous hint system and only requires the player to use one star to move forward. This process comes in very handy and in the end, nobody is left stuck for long.

Digging through cluttered drawers and boxes for just the right object can be a bit tedious at times, but it also helps build the vibe of rummaging through old memories. As puzzles are solved, the room changes with newer objects appearing and the overall space feels more lived-in and personal.

Besides some of the physics and movement hiccups, the atmosphere is where the game really shines. The handcrafted art style, relaxing soundtrack, and unhurried pace make it a game that’s easy to get lost in.

The story unfolds entirely through visuals and music, and no dialogue is necessary to push the story forward. It’s nostalgic and quietly emotional, capturing family memories and childhood moments in a way that feels both genuine and bittersweet.

By the time I finished playing, it was clear that Projected Dreams is a perfect fit for anyone seeking a creative, relaxing puzzle game with a personal touch. It has its quirks, sure, but its ability to draw players in is undeniable—and in those shadows lies a quiet kind of magic that stays with you.

Tip: Rotate everything. Sometimes the answer isn’t what you expect. Random objects (a book, a ruler, and a pencil) at just the right angle can form the perfect silhouette.
