The game’s mission-based structure can feel somewhat repetitive. Its gameplay loop involves completing missions, returning to the anthill, reporting in, and then immediately embarking on another task. 

This approach can become monotonous, feeling more like a grind than an immersive ant colony simulation. One player noted, “I was hoping for a deeper sim experience, instead, I found myself stuck in a cycle of missions.”

Unlike traditional simulation games focusing on deep colony management, Empire of the Ants is more of a guided narrative experience with strategic elements.
