Valheim can be a punishing grind, and sometimes you just want to skip the tedium, test a base, or explore without a troll flattening you.

Turning the console on takes two quick steps.
In your Steam library, right click Valheim, open Properties, and type -console into the Launch Options field. Launch the game, then press F5 to open the console window. The spawn command is the star of the show. It takes an item or creature ID, an amount, and a level. So spawn SwordIron 1 drops an iron sword at your feet, while spawn Troll 1 3 conjures a two star troll for when you are feeling brave.
IDs are case sensitive and specific, so keep an item ID list handy, since there are hundreds of them across the game.
Cheats are a great way to learn systems or rebuild after a rough raid, but they switch off achievements for that session and only function in single player or your own hosted world.
If you are chasing trophies, keep a separate save for messing around, then return to an honest run for the real Viking afterlife.
