NASCAR 26 Thrustmaster Wheel Settings (TMX, T150, T300)

Thrustmaster racing wheel set up for NASCAR 26 with a stock car on screen

NASCAR 26 is built around a 270 degree steering angle, and setting your rotation higher means the game caps your input at 270 while the force feedback keeps going past it, per sim racing settings maker Brian Koponen.

Values per Brian Koponen's NASCAR 26 Thrustmaster guide.

Why Low Torque

NASCAR 26 asks you to pick a force feedback preset based on how much torque your base produces, and the belt and gear driven Thrustmaster bases belong on the low setting. Choosing High Torque here will not make the wheel stronger in a useful way. It will just clip.

T300 Owners

The T300 is a stronger belt driven base than the TMX and T150, so the control panel values above are a starting point rather than a finished answer. Community configs circulating for the T300 lean on Master Gain around 75, Constant 100, Periodic 100, Spring 0, Damper 0, with Boost off. Keep Rotation at 270 regardless. The steering angle rule does not change with the base.

Why Friction Is Lower Here

Friction Strength sits at 70 for Thrustmaster, against 100 on Logitech's gear driven wheels. Belt drives already have less mechanical noise fighting you, so piling on friction just makes the wheel feel heavy and vague instead of informative.

If the Wheel Shuddered at Launch

That was a bug, not your hardware. The September 16 patch addressed wheels that would roughly shudder or vibrate across Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam, per the NASCAR 26 release notes. Make sure you are patched before you tune around it.

FAQ

What is the best steering rotation for NASCAR 26 on a Thrustmaster?

270 degrees, matched between the Thrustmaster Control Panel and the in game Wheel Max Rotation. The game is built around a 270 degree angle, so anything higher makes the wheel and the car disagree.

Should I use High or Low Torque on a Thrustmaster?

Low Torque. The belt and gear driven Thrustmaster bases clip on High Torque without getting usefully stronger.

Do these settings work for the T300?

They are a solid starting point. The T300 is stronger, so many owners run Master Gain near 75 with Constant and Periodic at 100 and Spring and Damper at 0. Keep rotation at 270.

My Thrustmaster wheel was vibrating in NASCAR 26. Is it broken?

No. That was a launch bug fixed in the September 16 patch. Update the game first.
